Goals & Wii Fit

So right after Christmas I decided that for the rest of December and the entire month of January I needed to work out every day, in an effort to get back in the habit. Steve and I purchased a Wii Fit last summer and mostly I am a big fan, you can do aerobics, strength training and yoga, I don't think that the balance games included count as exercise. Anyway the wii really focuses on your form while doing exercises as shown above. The other useful tool especially in my efforts this month is you can check in and be weighed every day and you get a stamp on your calendar etc, even though it reminds you every day that you are "overweight" I usually rave about the Wii Fit to anyone I can.

But, tonight it just made me mad, I have been so proud of myself every night since I set the goal I have worked out, sometimes on the wii fit, sometimes on the elliptical or sometimes elsewhere. Last night though I got home late from book club and so I decided I would do some push-ups, crunches, planks etc. and then just head to bed rather than checking in on the wii fit. So today when I stepped on the first thing it did was say "so too busy to work out yesterday eh Jill!" It was so irritating, how does it know I didn't work out, just because I didn't check in!

So I guess the lesson of this story is 1) I am pretty excited and suprised I have continued with my goal, 2) Most of the time I think the Wii Fit is a great tool, but 3) Sometimes it is just an irritating little machine.
